The Murrayville Lawn Tennis Club was formed after a meeting was held on 18thMarch 1964 to amalgamate four existing clubs in the district; Murrayville, Murrayville South, Danyo and Goongee. The lawn courts were established by means of countless working bees and the lawn was planted on 13th February 1965. A new clubhouse was opened by Cr K. Lackmann on 12th April 1973.
A Murrayville team has won the premiership 27 times since the 1965/66 season. In 1976, the MLTC had an active enrolment of approximately 70 members and feilded four teams in the Border District Tennis Association, however, in recent years there has been a steady decline in members resulting in fewer teams. From 1966 – 96, Murrayville hosted a very successful Annual Easter Tennis Tournament, which saw many past residents return for this great social event.
In 2000/01, Murrayville joined the Southern Mallee Tennis Association with Pinnaroo, Parilla and Lameroo. At present the MLTC has two mixed teams of eight. Current life members are Peter Peers, David Heintze, Eleanor McLean, Hedley Parker, Stuart McKee, John Harley, Dianne Heintze and Marion Heintze. All past committee members are listed on the honour board in the clubhouse.
After receiving funding from the Mildura Rural City Council and Graincorp, the clubhouse has undergone an extensive refurbishment, with the entire building being re-painted inside and out and having a new kitchen and flooring installed.
